My day...

Yesterday started off like every other. Got up, had some breaky, but that's when it all turned... My neighbour was getting angry about something like he does, swearing at the top of his lungs, so I went out to see what the problem was, cos I couldn't study with his incessent swearing! Anyway, he was angry because his gorgeous dog (you remember the one, Sashi) was getting in his way as he was trying to fix his car. So I suggested that I take Sashi for a walk whilst he does his work to give him a little peace and also to give myself a break from study. So he agreed and I took Sashi up to the park.
Then up at the park I was walking around letting Sashi do her thing. Then suddenly Sashi finds a spot on the ground and just starts digging. I didn't know what to do, I mean I don't think it's legal to let your dog dig up a hole in the middle of a public park. But no one else was around and I couldn't divert her from her goal. So I waited for about 5 minutes then Sashi found a bone! CAN YOU BELIEVE IT! She ran off with the bone under a tree and started to chomp on the sides of it. Meanwhile I looked back in the hole and saw what looked like a plastic lid. I thought it was odd so I tried to see what it was. I pulled out a canister which had a label on it saying "Time Capsule - 1923"... I couldn't believe it. So I opened it up and guess what was inside? Some really old black and white photos of a family who obviously lived in the area at the time. And a letter from the mother of the house-hold to the finder of the capsule. She talked about her family, how her husband had died in the first World War and now her and her three children were living on this farm. They had really old clothing and they were all sad and expressionless in the photo. You know what old photos were like...
Anyway, they also put in some coins from the time. And a section of news paper with news from the date that they put in. The paper was very old and fragile, so I didn't want to open it up fully for fear of ruining it, But the front title read "Port Melbourne Dock Under Seige" - It has some thing about a gang of robbers who wanted to steal a boat but were stopped by the authorities, and the Mayor of Melbourne personally came down to question them along with the police.
There were also some other trinkets in the capsule which I didn't recognise. Will be interesting to find out from an historian what they might be! But the whole thing paints an interesting picture of those times doesn't it!!!
I wondered whether I should put it back or take it to the Melbourne Museum. I called up the local council and they said definitely hand it in. So I went to the local council's office but by the time I got there there were already some photographers ready to take my photo! Someone from the council had obviously told them and so they were there to get the story for tomorrow's paper! And so guess what!?! I'm in the newspaper today! Hahaha... amazing huh!!!...

At least it would be...

If it were true...
