Put it down!

The Mobile phone though a great invention has gotten us more disconnected from each other than connected. For example, I went out to trivia last night with a few friends and whilst we waited for our food to arrive, everyone was on their phones, either texting, playing angry birds, words with friends or randomly browsing things online.
The majority of people on trains/waiting for the bus do exactly the same. In daily conversations, it is no longer considered rude to pull your phone out mid-conversation just to look at someone's text.

Such a shame don't you think? Now compare that with Steve Lambert a guy who will talk with anyone about anything. People come up to his little pop-up-table and if they don’t know what they want to talk about he keeps a list of questions such as:

- how about this weather?
- what have you been up to lately?
- what are you doing after this?
- how are things?
This formula has lead to conversations with all kinds of strangers on topics from the weather to the Iranian revolution, Native American philosophy, agriculture, film, etc. I can understand why the table is very popular

Here's to reaching out to the people right in front of us. I hope all of us become a Steve Lambert in our own little way
